Veritas launches new research and development function in Ireland, creating 250 jobs by 2019

Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar officially opens Veritas multi-cloud innovation centre in Dublin

Veritas Technologies, a leader in multi-cloud data management, announced the launch of a Veritas research and development (R&D) centre in Dublin, Ireland. The centre was officially opened by the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, and will contribute to the company’s expansion in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Following a multi-million Euro investment, Veritas will be creating 250 new jobs in Dublin by 2019, of which 130 roles will be filled within the next year. Veritas has already started recruiting for a wide-array of open positions, working closely with the IDA Ireland to secure top talent with the cloud-based technology skills needed to accelerate the company’s 360 multi-cloud data management platform. The recruitment drive focuses on development roles—from new graduates to senior-level executives, as well as multi-cloud engineering and supporting cross-functional roles, such as product and programme management. These roles will largely support new products, services and applications for Veritas.

Veritas will also focus on creating close links with universities across Ireland and intends to launch an internship graduate programme in 2018. The new R&D centre in Dublin is a strategic extension of a new innovation centre in San Francisco, which is also focused on delivering market-leading products and solutions for the Veritas multi-cloud data management platform.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re actively recruiting innovative talent at all levels in Ireland to help us transform how customers can harness the power of their data in a multi-cloud world,” said Bill Coleman, chief executive officer, Veritas. “Our latest research shows that 56 percent of organisations have a cloud-first mentality, but are struggling with how to protect their data, gain visibility and extract maximum value while staying compliant. This new centre is going to focus on solving these challenges and we’re delighted to work with the IDA Ireland to attract top talent into the Veritas family.”

Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, congratulated Veritas, saying: “The creation of 250 new jobs by Veritas is a great boost for Ballycoolin and for North-West Dublin. The Government is prioritising research and development, innovation and enterprise, to ensure companies like Veritas can grow their operations here. Ireland has developed a very strong reputation as being a hub for cloud-based technology companies and the latest jobs announcement confirms that this sector of the economy is continuing to grow strongly and contribute to our jobs recovery.”

Tánaiste and Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Frances Fitzgerald TD said: "The development of a multi-cloud innovation centre by Veritas is very welcome here in Ireland. We have been working to expand our footprint into the growing cloud computing area and have initiated policies to ensure that companies like Veritas can obtain the requisite skills here. The government is committed to enhancing Ireland's presence in the emerging knowledge based enterprise activities, especially in the ICT sector. This vote of confidence by Veritas in what Ireland has to offer, is very good news indeed.”

Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland, commented: “Veritas joins a prominent list of leading companies creating a foundation in the city and reflects our commitment to innovation in Ireland. The Dublin expansion builds on the company’s existing presence and attests to the city’s thriving tech culture. We welcome Veritas’ continued investment and expansion in Ireland.”

Today, Veritas is already helping 86 per cent of the Fortune 500 companies reveal insights about their data, and those insights can play a critical role in areas like compliance. With the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force in May 2018, the need to control, protect and gain visibility into data has never been more imperative for organisations. Veritas is helping customers in Europe and around the world address these challenges directly, offering readiness assessments and solutions that give customers simple ways to locate, manage, monitor and protect their data—all critical actions as companies look to advance their compliance journey.

“Veritas is a company of technologists and we look forward to welcoming people with skills in areas such as analytics, machine learning and cloud data protection to our team in Ireland,” added Coleman. “We also believe in nurturing our talent and we hope future employees of Veritas in Dublin will stay for years to come.”

IDA Ireland is the Irish Government Agency tasked with bringing foreign direct investment into Ireland through a wide range of services. IDA Ireland partners with potential and existing investors to help them establish or expand their operations in Ireland.
