The European Union operates a system of controls on the export of sensitive items from the member states. These controls form part of a global framework designed to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, to preserve regional stability and to protect human rights. The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is the national competent authority with responsibility for administering and enforcing these controls in Ireland.

We have prepared this video to assist exporters in understanding export controls and their obligations under relevant EU and national legislation.
