Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail, Damien English TD, continued his visit to the Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) in Cork this afternoon when calling to the South Cork Office. The Minister is visiting LEO offices around the country and meeting with the LEO teams and hearing about their work, and is also meeting with some of their client companies.
The Minister was greeted at Cork County Hall by Cllr. Gillian Coughlan, Mayor of the County of Cork and Cllr. Frank O’ Flynn, Chair of the Strategic Policies Committee for Enterprise. Sean O’Sullivan, Head of Enterprise at South Cork LEO, gave a presentation on current developments at the LEO as well their future plans. The Minister then met the LEO team members and discussed their work and engagement with client companies.
Minister English said:
“I am delighted to be in South Cork and to meet the local LEO team. The support they provide in terms of training, mentoring, upskilling and other practical advice and assistance has been hugely important in recent times. It is vital businesses have support at local level and now as we are in the recovery phase and businesses stabilise and return to growth, the LEOs will once again play a key role.”
The Minister then travelled to Ballytrasna Business Park on Little Island and met with Darren O’Sullivan, owner of Complete Collaborations. The award-winning LEO client company, offers calibration services across all sectors of industry. In Midleton, the Minister met with Beni Moussa owner of Benson Workwear. The company designs and manufactures medical, healthcare and workwear textiles.
On the conclusion of his engagements, Minister English said:
“As I travel around the country and meet the LEO teams and their client companies I am hugely impressed by the variety of enterprise and the ‘can do’ spirit of those involved in the businesses. There is great innovation and a great determination to succeed and with the support of the LEO network and Government supports such as the Regional Enterprise Development Fund, I am confident that these businesses will deliver the job creation and economic growth that the country needs as we continue our recovery from the pandemic.”
