DETE Social Media Policy

This policy lists the social media that the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is currently making use of, what you can expect on each of them, and how we interact with members of the public on these platforms.

Our use of social media platforms is not intended as a means of contacting our Ministers directly, or for submitting press queries. 

The Department is not responsible, liable for and does not endorse the privacy practices of any linked websites. Your use of social media websites is at your own risk. The Department assumes no responsibility or liability for any injury, loss or damage incurred as a result of any use or reliance upon the information and material contained within or downloaded from these websites.

Staffing and origin of tweets

The @DeptEnterprise account is managed by the Department Press Office. Tweets are posted by the staff of the Press Office.

Content

If you follow @DeptEnterprise, you can expect our tweets to include:

  • News stories and press releases
  • Speeches and statements from the Ministers
  • Photos and videos from Department events and the Ministers’ engagements
  • Live tweeting of Government and Department events
  • Other content as deemed appropriate.

Following and Retweets

If we follow another Twitter account, it does not imply an endorsement of any kind. Likewise, content retweeted by @DeptEnterprise does not imply any endorsement of the message tweeted or the individual or organisation who tweeted it. If you follow our account, we will not automatically follow you back.

@Messages and Direct Messages

We welcome feedback from our followers and will try to join conversations where possible. However, we may not reply individually to all messages we receive via Twitter. The best means of communicating queries to the Department is via the Department contact details. Please do not include personal or private information in your tweets or LinkedIn posts and messages to us.

Availability

We update and monitor our Twitter account during normal office hours Monday to Friday. We will also update and monitor the account outside of these hours at our own discretion. Twitter may occasionally be unavailable and we accept no responsibility for lack of service due to Twitter downtime.

The youtube.com/EnterTradeInnov account is managed by the Department Press Office and Communications Unit. Content will always be posted by staff of the Press Office.

Comments on YouTube page and moderation policy

Comments are generally enabled on the Department YouTube page. We reserve the right however to disable comments on occasion. Comments posted on videos are the views of individuals and do not represent the views of the Department or the Government. We do not accept responsibility for the content of any comment and reserve the right to remove comments that:

  • contain abusive, obscene, indecent or offensive language, or link to obscene or offensive material
  • are not relevant to the video posted
  • contain abusive language
  • constitute spam or promote or advertise products
  • are designed to cause nuisance to the page administrator or other users.

The official Department LinkedIn profile is linkedin.com/company/department-of-enterprise-trade-and-employment. Content will always be posted by staff of the Press Office or Communications Unit of the Department.
