LEAP – Large Energy User Action Plan

LEAP is the government’s strategy to facilitate future investment in energy intensive sectors, while unlocking Ireland’s renewable energy opportunity.

The actions aim to address development barriers impacting large energy users (LEUs), in particular regarding energy infrastructure. Through 17 actions, it prepares for a plan-led approach to the co-location of the most energy-intensive LEU sectors with renewable energy supply within green energy park locations across our regions. This aligns industrial policy with other strategic government priorities, and will accelerate opportunities for regional development in strategic energy intensive sectors.

The independent report, Economic Assessment of Green Energy Park Concepts, reviews national and international policy drivers, presents case studies of relevant projects, summarises stakeholder engagement, analyses criteria that may determine future Green Energy Park locations in Ireland, and includes economic assessments of potential scenarios to inform policy options for Green Energy Parks.
