Mazars unveils new Galway office and will double office headcount with newly established business unit

30 new jobs will double the size of the existing Mazars presence in Galway

Leading audit, tax and advisory firm Mazars has officially opened its new Galway office and announced that it will create up to 30 new jobs over a three-year period, doubling the headcount of the office from 30 to 60. While 20 of the new positions will service its recently created outsourced accounting business in Galway, there will be an additional 10 roles in audit, tax and advisory also located in the new office.

The new internationally focused outsourced accounting services centre will provide services to companies and builds on the firm’s existing outsourced business unit which is based in Dublin. This new Galway based unit will enhance the firm’s overall capabilities and service offerings on the western seaboard of Ireland.
Welcoming the announcement Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys TD said; “I am delighted to see Mazars open a new office in Galway. Mazars is one of the top accounting firms in the world and I am pleased to see them increase their presence in the West. Ireland is now a world leader in professional services and many of the top companies in this sector are based here. This announcement is a further example of the success of the Government’s commitment under the Regional Action Plans for Jobs to ensure we have the right conditions in place to facilitate the creation of quality jobs in regional locations.”

Mark Kennedy, Managing Partner, Mazars commented; “Mazars Ireland is one of the fastest growing professional services firms and the further expansion of our Galway operation is testament to our work and the services we provide as a business. Earlier this year we announced the continued growth of our Limerick business and I am delighted to see the Galway office enjoying similar success.”

Commenting on the announcement Martin Shanahan, CEO, IDA Ireland said; “Mazars’ decision to expand its footprint in Galway to service its global clients is very welcome. The company is a great addition to the thriving business ecosystem in the West.”

Mazars is expanding its client offering to service the increasing demand for outsourced accounting services. The factors driving demand include, the attractiveness of the West for multi-national organisations wishing to outsource accounting functions, the benefits associated with the outsourcing and the general globalisation of businesses. Mazars has a niche speciality in the provision of global compliance services to multi-national companies which can be centrally coordinated from Ireland via Mazars internally developed platforms.

Austin Sammon, Audit, Advisory & Outsourcing Partner, Mazars Galway commented; “Galway is the largest urban centre on west coast of Ireland and home to many multinational companies that use Galway as a hub for establishing global networks. With a young population and programmes such as Galway 2040 driving overall development, we look forward to future growth as an established member of the local and regional business community.”

Mairéad Divilly, Lead Outsourcing Partner, Mazars, said; “Our ambition is to become Ireland’s leading outsourced accounting provider. The requirement for outsourcing is driven by a competitive recruitment market and the globalisation of businesses. In addition, outsourcing allows clients to focus on their core business whilst providing peace of mind that they are fully compliant with filing deadlines and changes in regulation. At Mazars, we are well positioned to navigate these various challenges on behalf of our clients to ensure robust compliance and consistent levels of service quality across their business.”

Mazars first established in Galway in 2004 and its new office, spanning 6,000 sq. feet, is located at Mayoralty House in Galway city. The office move has come as a response to continued growth within the business and recruitment has begun to fill the new positions in outsourced accounting business.
These additions bring the total number of Mazars Ireland staff to over 400 in Limerick, Galway and Dublin. Mazars Ireland is part of a single international integrated partnership of over 20,000 professionals in 86 countries.
