Increased Cost of Business Scheme and Power Up grant Reclassification Appeal Process

The Increased Cost of Business Scheme and the Power Up grant Reclassification Appeal Process opened on 24 July 2025.

The Reclassification Appeal Process is intended to allow businesses in the retail, hospitality and beauty sectors that were not eligible for ICOB and the Power Up grant because they misclassified their business during the ICOB registration period, an opportunity to register for those grants.

This is not a re-opening of those grant schemes - this is solely to allow those who originally misclassified their business sector an opportunity to reclassify their business and register for the grants.

It will not re-open for any other scenario, such as missed deadlines or new applications. It is specifically designed to allow those businesses that misclassified during the ICOB registration, an opportunity to reclassify their business.

The Local Authorities will write to all potentially eligible businesses and advise them on the necessary steps to take. The Reclassification Appeal Process will remain open until 15 August 2025.

The Local Authorities are administering the scheme on behalf of the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment.
