Stakeholder consultation on a study supporting the review of the Copyright in the Digital Single Market Directive
As part of the European Commission’s review of the Copyright in the Digital Single Market (2019/790/EU) an independent study is being carried out by a contractor to gather first-hand views on how the Directive is applied and what impact it has across the sectors it covers. As part of this study an EU-wide stakeholder survey has been launched.
The survey is accessible until 5 June 2026. Responses are to be submitted to the contractor directly, and may also be shared with the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment.
Call for evidence for an impact assessment for a better copyright environment for European creativity and innovation
In parallel to the review of the Copyright in the Digital Single Market Directive (2019/790/EU), the European Commission has published a call for evidence open until 25 June 2026 on challenges linked in particular to the exercise of copyright and related rights in the context of technological developments and potential ways to address them.
The topics covered are AI and copyright; online piracy; payment of music royalties to certain third countries; facilitating use of protected content in R&I. A public consultation will follow.
General Notice on consultation on the transposition of Directive (EU) 2019/790
As specified in Part B, section 2, of each consultation paper on the transposition of Directive (EU) 2019/790, contributors should be aware that it is the department’s policy to treat all submissions received as being in the public domain. This means that the department may decide to publish on its website, all submissions received in response to public consultations, in due course. Contributors should clearly identify any material they deem to be “confidential”.
